Dyslexia Awareness Month in review

in Nonfiction Writing, Random Musings

What a month! Have you ever had one of those things that you do because you feel like you are supposed to even though it’s a stretch? That’s what this month has been all about for me, but the rewards have been remarkable.

This month I have set aside most of my writing time to tackle articles for Dyslexia Awareness Month. I was hit with great responses. My first article was in Dallas Morning News and the second was on Huffington Post.

The HuffPo article ended up getting liked and shared more than any article up to this point in my career. It was picked up by several national publications, and it has been printed and shared with more groups than I can count. It feels great for my writing to make a difference in people’s lives. That’s why I do what I do.

Since those articles, I have been requested to speak at a nearby library and to write three articles for separate venues. I was also awarded a scholarship to attend the International Dyslexia Association’s National Conference in New Orleans. I fly out early next week. I’m hoping this will open the doors to more writing opportunities.

I appreciate the support of all my readers, family, and friends as I continue along my writing journey!
