Today is my youngest’s 5th birthday. While this may not seem like a big deal to most, it is a huge deal for this writing momma because it marks a milestone… for both of us.

Much of the parenting aspect of this milestone can be read in today’s HuffPost blog, but there is also a professional side:

1. My little man starts Kindergarten soon and I will get a lot more writing time. I can’t wait to see what I can accomplish with two more days! I’m not sure which of us is more excited.

2. The goal I set for myself two years ago was to have my first book written by the time my youngest started Kindergarten. I officially beat that expectation yesterday when I finalized my manuscript 18 hours shy of him turning 5. That’s right… I’m finished! I’m working on my query letter and proposal now, and I plan to start submitting to agents after Spring Break.

Thank for for taking this journey with me. Please hop on over to HuffPost and if you like my story, share it with your friends. You can also connect with me on Facebook and Twitter to get the latest updates.

Sending you a virtual hi-five! I have two boys – 2 and 5 and I know first-hand how difficult it is to complete a trip to the bathroom with little ones, let alone a novel! Congrats!!!!
