After half-watching a few NCAA basketball games this weekend, I fell in love with one of the traditions. At the end of the game, players of the winning team took turns climbing a ladder to claim a piece of the net.

As an avid college football fan, I find the calm, rational basketball approach to be very different from the rioting fans climbing on top of the uprights to bring them down.

As I watched this orchestrated and “blessed” net cutting ceremony, I started thinking about how close I am to a victory in my own life and what I am going to do when I achieve it. At this writing I am 67,000 words into the rough draft of an 80,000ish word novel. But what will I do when I finish it?

Like the net cutting ceremony, I need this to be a team effort.
